"While Detroit Police Chief James Craig says he's supports deescalation, he called using warning shots "one of the most ridiculous things" he's heard.
"So now we're going to start firing warning shots," the chief asked incredulously during Thursday's Detroit Police Commission meeting. "A bullet does not have a brain."
"Hollywood-ish," "irresponsible," and impractical, are adjectives the police chief used to describe the idea.
"Any time you fire that weapon, (the officer) should be faced with an imminent threat to self, or an imminent threat to someone else, to fire their weapon," Craig said. " ... I reject it, and it's not good policy."
